    Privacy

This page explains which data this site handles, who handles it and why. In short: no analytics, no advertising, no cookies and no tracking pixels of our own. The map provider, Mapbox, collects usage data, as described below.

    Who is responsible

Philipp Beer is responsible for this site and the data it handles. You can reach him at hello@beachesofmallorca.com.

    What happens when you visit

Cloudflare Pages hosts this site. To deliver and protect it, Cloudflare processes request data such as your IP address.

Beach data comes from our database at Supabase. Your browser loads it from Supabase, which receives request data such as your IP address to deliver it.

    The map

The beach map uses Mapbox. When the map loads, your browser fetches map tiles and fonts from Mapbox (api.mapbox.com), and Mapbox receives your IP address. The map software also sends usage data to Mapbox (events.mapbox.com). For this, it stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage, under keys that start with mapbox.eventData, and replaces it after 24 hours.

    The beach-request form

You can ask us to add a beach. The form sends the beach name and, if you fill them in, a location hint, notes and your email address. The email address is optional. We store the request in our Supabase database to handle it, and we use the email address only to answer your request.

To prevent abuse, the form reads your IP address and keeps it in the server's working memory to count recent requests. It is not saved to our database.

    Storage in your browser

This site sets no cookies. It keeps three small items of its own in your browser's local storage: your saved beaches (bom-favourites), your language (language) and whether you closed the language suggestion (languageSuggestionDismissed). They stay on your device and are not sent to any server. The map adds its own identifier, described above. You can delete all of these in your browser settings at any time.

The administrator sign-in stores a login session in the browser. Only the site administrator signs in.

    What we do not do

We use no analytics, no advertising and no tracking pixels. The fonts are hosted on this site, so no font service sees your visit.

    How long data is kept

We keep a beach request and its optional email address as long as we need them to handle the request. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

    Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict its use, to object to its use and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email hello@beachesofmallorca.com.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority.

    Changes to this page

If the way this site handles data changes, we update this page.
